An ashram, rising
on the Tansa
On the banks of the Tansa River near Mumbai, a spiritual power centre is taking shape - season by season. Some of it is being built right now; the rest is Mohanji's vision for the generations to come.
Already breathing - and still becoming
Mohanji Datta Tapovan is already alive. Lord Dattatreya stands under the Audumbar tree; the Annakshetra serves fresh meals around the clock; rescued cows rest in the gaushala, and the farms grow what we eat. What the land still needs is room to welcome everyone who comes - so two things are underway at once.
We are building the interim spaces that our daily life needs today, and holding a long vision for a permanent ashram– temples, a meditation hall and a living landscape– in the timeless idiom of traditional Kerala temple architecture.
Being built today
Three interim spaces, under construction now to support our daily programs and welcome visitors while the permanent master plan takes shape. About ₹45 lakh will see them complete.

Satsang Hall & Sunset Gazebo
A bamboo-and-steel hall before Lord Dattatreya - an open, grounded space with a thatched roof and earthen floor for programs, meditation and a mini-library. And a hexagonal gazebo amid the farms, overlooking the Tansa at sunset.

The Ahimsa Café & Store
A vegan café for wholesome, nourishing fare, and a store for books from Gurulight, Mohanji merchandise, statues and meditation mats - including clothing blessed by Mohanji. Surplus supports the ashram's daily work.

Rustic Cottages
Simple, comfortable cottages near the Annakshetra for volunteers and visitors - grounded in nature, with the essential comforts. Four in the first phase, so we can host seekers for programs and retreats as the ashram grows.

The ashram, made whole
Mohanji's vision for a permanent spiritual power centre, set along the Tansa - temples, a great hall and the spaces that hold daily life. These are architectural concepts by Habitat Technology Group; details will evolve as the master plan unfolds.

The Temple Complex
At the centre, a Shirdi Sai Baba mandir crowned with a tiered Kerala roof - flanked by shrines to Lord Hanuman, Lord Krishna and Durga Devi, set around sacred walkways and entered through a traditional padippura gateway.
A multi-layered lamp marks the axis, and the whole complex sits within a walled green - a place for daily aarati, abhishekam and quiet darshan.

The Meditation Hall
A great hall of timber and tile, rising in tiers to a carved gable - a vast, grounded space to sit together in silence, for meditations, transmissions and the larger gatherings the ashram is already outgrowing.
Open verandahs wrap the hall on every side, letting the breeze and the light of the grounds move through.

The Welcome & Amenity Block
The arrival point of the retreat - a dining hall and semi-open dining, a lounge and exhibition space, an admin wing and a Gurulight / souvenir shop, gathered around an open courtyard.
The first threshold most visitors will cross, holding the warm, everyday life of the ashram.
How it may one day stand
The master plan on Plot 360, held along the Tansa river - the temple, the meditation hall and the amenity block set in green, with room left for all that is still to come.

A living landscape
Beyond the buildings, the grounds themselves carry the vision - some of this already begun, some still to come, all held in Mohanji's intention for the land.
Gardens
Flowering, fragrant gardens threading between the buildings and along the walkways.
A water body
A pond for feeding the fish - a small daily act of care, and a still mirror for the sky.
Nakshatra Vanam
A forest of the stars - a sacred grove in sacred geometry, a tree for each nakshatra. Already begun.
A forest for the birds
A wilder grove left to grow - to feed and shelter the birds, and the beings who come with them.
Ghats to the river
Steps down to the Tansa - to sit by the water, and bathe at the river's edge.
Caves & meditation pods
Quiet cells for deep practice - for those who come to go within, undisturbed.
Some of these are part of Mohanji's wider vision for the land and are not yet in the architectural master plan.
Join us to make history - building a spiritual power centre for the current and future generations. Every contribution, big or small, will be received with heartfelt gratitude.- Mohanji
